Artist Statement
I am honored to get the
chance to share my artwork through Saratoga Arts “Art in Public Places.” My
husband and I have lived in Saratoga Springs for 9 years now. I’ve found much
to see that sparks my desire to paint, and equally love to take in the work of
the many, many talented artists who live in this area.
I’ve lived in Brooklyn,
Westchester County, North Carolina, London and now, Saratoga Springs. I have
exhibited in each of these places and have been lucky enough to have people
enjoy and purchase my work. It gives me great joy to know that my work is on a
wall in Bedford NY, California, London and China.
I am now retired from
my chosen profession, Audiology. But I’m gratified in the knowledge that I made
a difference in many people’s lives by helping them with communication and
balance issues. I am equally happy when I see that someone looking at one of my
paintings is getting a positive feeling from it. If I can communicate the
feeling that I had looking at a scene through my camera lens through paint on
canvas, then I’ve succeeded. Angles, shapes and color draw me in more than
subject matter. These features and the relationship of objects in the scene
create a rhythm for me, as one might hear the rhythm in music.
