Artist Statement
After a long snow-filled winter, Spring finally unfurls in late May in Saratoga Springs with beautiful apple, pear, cherry, lilac, forsythia and dogwood blossoms throughout the city. Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, iris, lilies and hostas pop through the earth and erupt in cheerful flowers and greenery just in time for the start of the vibrant summer season. As a show of pride of place and happiness for the warm weather, the entire City seems to emerge from their homes and make efforts to clean up their yards and the public spaces. People once again start strolling the streets and dining in outdoor cafés. Flowers are planted in pots and gardens throughout the City, serving as a welcoming sight for the thousands of visitors who will come from around the world throughout the summer to enjoy the various sights and entertainments that the region has to offer.
The natural beauty, and energy that exists in the Saratoga region during the annual start of “the season” is the inspiration for this show. Now is not only a time for visitors to come and enjoy the region, but it is also a time of my annual renewal as an artist. I look forward to once again taking my easel outside and painting en plein air around the City, and in the pristine nearby areas of the Adirondacks and Hudson River Valley!
Please enjoy this exhibit, and feel free to stop by to say hello if you see me painting outside this summer!
