Artist Statement

The images that I create are inspired by the natural world and our adventurous spirits. In my work, I portray nature as a place of solitude, wildlife in its natural element and the more dramatic side of individuals pushing into the mountains. My photographs are created from a mirrorless camera, 35mm film, and medium format. My processes include photographing during any time of day and mainly handheld. After I began my photography journey, some artists that have influenced my work include Ansel Adams, Jimmy Chin, and Ben Adams. The photographs that I craft focus on conservation and adventure. Many people such as myself have found inspiration in National Geographic magazines and climbing films. My aim is to photograph a scene that is impactful for the viewer and myself. Within the realm of photography, I always create an image with my emotions in that moment. Being an artist, I always want to help others feel a connection to the natural world and sometimes, the fights we endure on the way to the summit.
