Saratoga Arts Announces $150,000 in NYSCA Funding for Arts & Culture Projects in Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga Counties

Saratoga Arts is pleased to announce the grantees for the 2023 Community Arts Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council of the Arts (NYSCA).

A total of 64 grants have been awarded supporting community-based arts and culture programs taking place in Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga Counties throughout 2023. The funded projects offer their communities year-round opportunities to experience a wide array of free or low-cost artistic events highlighting talented local and regional artists.

Overall, 97 applications were submitted this year (as opposed to 55 in 2022) translating to over $325,000 in funding requests. The unenviable decisions as to how to distribute funding by the independently appointed panels was an extremely challenging process this cycle.

“After receiving such a record number of applications, it is exciting to know 50,000 community members, 5,400 youth, and 2,700 artists will participate in these grant-funded events, which is almost double the engagement compared to 2022. We are looking forward to providing education and support for the application process and to continue building greater outreach and networks that will grow Arts and Culture for the community” says Mae Hailu, Saratoga Arts Grants Coordinator.

“This shows just how important direct artist funding is, particularly in this region” says Louise Kerr, Saratoga Arts Executive Director. “Our vibrant arts and culture community is growing and Saratoga Arts will continue work towards increasing funding in 2024, as our mission is to help all of these creative and worthy projects receive support in the future.”

The Community Arts Regrant Program is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. With the funding awarded from NYSCA, Saratoga Arts’ Community Arts Regrant Program supports artists, non-profit organizations, and local municipalities in Saratoga, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties, in partnership with qualifying organizations and artists, to present innovative arts and cultural programs in local communities.
