Weaving Open Studio

Studio time will be available for students with prior weaving experience (i.e. can thread a loom and work on their own). Registration covers the sole use of a loom for a 5-week session (Two 5-week sessions available as listed below).

All work will need to be removed from the loom prior to September 1.

Maximum Enrollment: 8

2-5 Week Sessions, June 29-July 29 and/or July 29-August 29, 2026

$75 member per session/ $90 non-member per session

24 hours/7 day a week access to the Fiber arts studio during your session

$15/week charge

Express Yourself: Embroider a baseball cap

Express your creativity and personalize your wardrobe by embroidering your own cap! In this fun, hands-on workshop, you'll transform a plain hat into a one-of-a-kind accessory using colorful embroidery techniques. Choose from a wide variety of design themes that include florals, pets, wildlife, nautical, outdoor-inspired, cute, retro, and alternative motifs—or combine elements to create a design that's uniquely your own. You'll learn embroidery stitches and tips for stitching on curved surfaces while creating a wearable piece of art that reflects your personal style. No embroidery experience is necessary.

Cost includes an adjustable cotton baseball cap with choice of several colors, peal and stick original designs created by your instructor, and high quality DMC embroidery floss in the colors of your choosing.

Marcie Brozyna is an award-winning artist whose work focuses heavily on pictorial embroidery of classic and novel motifs. A lover of history and culture, Marcie views embroidery as an accessible art connecting us not only to past generations but to diverse communities throughout the world. Marcie’s warm and relaxed classes feature her own hand-drawn vintage-inspired designs and focus on classic needlework stitches.

Tapestries are woven pieces with either realistic or abstract images. On a small frame loom, students will learn to weave a variety of shapes such as boxes, stripes, hatching, angles and curves. These can be combined to weave any desired image. Students will then draw a design for a larger piece which they will start on a loom which will be constructed in class.

Please bring a good pair of scissors.

Jan DeMeo has been weaving for nine years and is excited to introduce absolute beginners* to the art of weaving. In this class, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the entire weaving process: from planning and winding the warp to dressing the loom and exploring various weave structures. Bring your creativity to life by painting with wool! In this relaxing, beginner-friendly class, you'll create a beautiful needle-felted artwork with a painterly quality—using colorful wool instead of paint.

Needle felting is a quiet, meditative art form where layers of soft wool are carefully placed with a barbed needle to build color, texture, and depth. Like painting with a brush, you'll blend and layer wool fibers to create a vibrant image, one layer at a time.

Whether you're completely new to needle felting or have some experience with fiber arts, you'll learn the essential techniques, along with helpful tips and tricks, to create your own unique wool "painting." Along the way, you'll discover how satisfying the process can be as your artwork gradually comes to life.

By the end of class, you'll leave with a finished felted piece, new skills, and the confidence to continue creating needle-felted paintings on your ow

About the Instructor

Cynthia Mulvaney began her art career when 'faux finishes were all the rage' in the 1990s. She began painting finishes, trompe l'oeil and murals both commercially and privately, honing her skills and she now enjoying painting 'in all sizes', in all mediums from oils and acrylics to watercolor and gouache. She has a love for sculpture as well and has taught drawing, painting in all media and fiber art to students throughout NY and New Mexico. She loves living in the beautiful Mohawk Valley, near her children and grandchildren.. life is good, indeed!

Whether you’ve been wanting to learn embroidery or you appreciate clean lines and classic shapes, this class is for you. With multiple color options for fabric and thread, you’ll learn six classic stitches while embroidering a work of art you’ll love.

Class cost includes premium linen/cotton blend fabric with instructor’s original design printed directly on it, high quality DMC and J.P. Coates floss, a six inch bamboo hoop, a selection of needles, and a needle-book made by the instructor’s mother.

This course is for everyone from curious beginners to experienced fiber artists! We will take raw wool and fun embellishments to create a beautiful art vessel (similar to a pottery bowl, except made of felted wool!) Using a variety of techniques, you’ll learn how to transform wool into felt and make your own custom vessel which you can use to hold trinkets, dried flowers or just for a beautiful decoration in your home!

You’ll learn about the various types of wool, embellishments and supplies used in wet felting along with all the techniques, such as ‘shingling’, wetting, rolling, in order to create your finished product.. Skills you can use in your own future use to wet felt objects at home!

Students must bring their own bath-size towel (as it’s not called ‘wet’ felting for nothing, ha!). All other supplies for this class will be provided.
