This summer in the Spa City, The Creative Place International (CPI), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing exciting cultural resources in Saratoga Springs, will present THE SOUND OF MURDER by William Fairchild, a whodunit in the fine British (Agatha Christie) tradition.  Directed by Tony Award winner Ron Holgate of Saratoga, the play features a writer of popular children’s stories who has a decidedly dark side. When his wife asks for a divorce, he adamantly refuses for selfish reasons. The story spirals down to a thrilling and surprising conclusion involving the wife’s lover, the author’s secretary, the police and a voice recorder.  The final moments of this mystery will have audiences on the edge of their seats.  Adult content.

Reserve tickets at (518) 584-7780 or online at, search “Sound of Murder”. All seats $25.

The Creative Place International (CPI) will continue its tradition of sharing the proceeds of performances with several area charities. The Yaddo Garden Association, The Saratoga County Children’s Committee, The Franklin Community Center, The Saratoga Independent School and the Brave Will Foundation are this year’s beneficiaries of CPI’s annual charitable effort.

Street Corner Holler

Acoustic and electric traditional Delta Blues and contemporary originals

Saturday, September 27 at 8pm
at The Arts Center | 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs

With Mark Tolstrup and his National steel guitar up front, Street Corner Holler’s sound harkens back to early Delta blues, but it is not a one- an act. Drummer Dale Haskell drives the beat and trades off with Tolstrup on vocals, and upright bassist Tony Markellis completes the trio (when he’s not touring with Phish’s Trey Anastasio), providing the foundation for the group’s groove-locked sound. Between the amplified instruments and drums, the slide guitar and the gravelly vocals, Street Corner Holler sounds something like a mix between the Chicago and Delta blues traditions. The trio pays tribute to the blues in all its forms — a fact evident not only in their instrumentation, but also in their choice of songs.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance by going to http://, and at The Arts Center.

Stephen Sondheim’s Musical - Company
Proudly Presented by The Local Actors Guild of Saratoga

October 18 & 25 at 2pm & 8pm
October 19 & 26 at 2pm
at The Arts Center

Set in 1960’s New York City, Company tells the story of five couples and their mutual friend Robert. Robert, turning 35 at the beginning of the show, seems to have everything: good looks, charm, and a great sense of humor. Nevertheless, he is still single. In Company he watches and learns from the various couples. He sees both the wonders and pitfalls of relationships. In the end though, Robert realizes that while relationships rarely turn out like they do in fairy tails, life is still better when you have someone to share it with. The show includes favorites such as “The Ladies Who Lunch,” “Side by Side” and “Being Alive.”
